Beyond the Bones: My Second Dive into the World of Canvas Rebel Magazine!

Updated: 7 days ago

Bone-jour wonderful friends and fellow art & osteo enthusiasts!

I'm absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news that just went live: I've had the immense pleasure of being interviewed by Canvas Rebel Magazine for the second time! You might remember my first feature last June, and it's truly an honor to be invited back to share updates on my journey with Bone Boutique and Images of Therapy.

Canvas Rebel is an incredible platform dedicated to showcasing the stories of independent artists and creative entrepreneurs, and they truly dig deep into what makes us tick. This time around, we had a really engaging conversation about the evolution of my work, the deeper meaning behind my creations, and the unique challenges and rewards of being a creative entrepreneur.

What We Explored in This Interview:

One of the highlights of our discussion centered around a project that has become incredibly meaningful to me: my 'Kevin' hermit crab sculptures. For those who might not know, these pieces began from a fascination with hermit crabs and their clever use of borrowed shells. This sparked an idea: what if I could craft a 'home' for them from bone, the very essence of life's internal structure?

We dove into the story of 'Beyond the Plastic Tide,' the most recent 'Kevin' sculpture that resonated so deeply, especially after it received 3rd place at Art Center Sarasota's 'Epoch of Change: Footprints of Humanity' exhibition. This piece, where a hermit crab takes shelter in a discarded prescription bottle, really allowed us to talk about the power of art to spark conversations about our environmental footprint and the potential for repurposing.

Beyond the specific artworks, we also delved into what it truly takes to sustain a creative life and business. We discussed the importance of conscious consumerism – the idea that supporting local artists and makers isn't just a transaction, but an investment in someone's passion, their livelihood, and the unique cultural fabric of our communities. It's about choosing authentic, handcrafted beauty over mass-produced items.

And, of course, we touched on the incredible reward of inspiring others. There's nothing quite like witnessing that initial spark of creativity ignite in someone, transforming into a vibrant flame. That's a huge part of why Phillip and I founded Images of Therapy, and it continues to fuel my spirit.

I am so proud of the work Phillip and I do, from the unique, ethically sourced bone art of Bone Boutique to the soul-soothing expressions of Images of Therapy. Each piece carries a story, a connection to nature, and a commitment to sustainability.

I invite you all to read the full interview and get an even deeper look into our world, our processes, and our mission. It’s always a privilege to share my journey with you, and I hope my story inspires you on your own creative paths.
