These were so much fun to make! I had these American Alligator ribs set aside in my "sculpture bin" for a long time because they were so different from one another. But after working through this collection, I realized that their natural difference is exactly what makes them "Runway" ready.
I’ve leaned into that natural asymmetry with the beadwork, too. Using ornate 8/0 white and blue seed beads, I wove the full length of one rib, while leaving the other with just a 3/4-inch "accent" weave. The result is a pair of earrings that feel incredibly stylish and avant-garde.
Even at 4.5 inches long, they have a graceful, lightweight movement that is just stunning.
