The Story 🦝

At Bone Boutique, our mission of Wearable Conservation extends beyond our own workbench—we believe in supporting the broader osteo-art community by sharing the high-quality materials we process. Every raccoon we work with was ethically salvaged directly from local North Port roadways following unfortunate vehicle strikes.

Instead of allowing these incredible anatomical structures to be lost, we step in to rescue, clean, and extensively degrease them over months of dedicated studio care. This specimen set highlights the distinct appendicular architecture of the raccoon leg and arm structures. From the smooth, elongated curve of the long bones to the delicate unfused epiphyses and ankle structures, each piece arrives fully sanitized, bone-white, and ready to be integrated into your own creative projects.

The Composition

    • Proximal & Distal Tibial Epiphyses

    • Tarsal bones & Astragalus (ankle components)

  • Condition: Authentically processed, thoroughly degreased, sanitized, and sun-bleached to a clean, natural white finish.

  • Dimensions: Long bones range approximately from $3.5\text{ inches}$ to over $5.5\text{ inches}$ in length.

Ideas for Crafting & Assemblage

This set offers an extraordinary palette of natural forms for jewelry makers, sculptors, shadowbox creators, and assemblage artists. The lightweight fibulae and radii are ideal for wire-wrapping into avant-garde drop earrings or delicate pendant dangles, while the heavier humerus and tibia bones make striking focal pieces for bone crowns, wall altars, or mixed-media sculptures. The small tarsal elements and unfused epiphyses add unique anatomical texture for resin casting or intricate miniature work.
