The Story πŸ’€

At Bone Boutique, transparency, respect, and a strict zero-waste philosophy guide every piece of wearable conservation we design. This exceptional statement piece is a true gift from the Florida waterways. Discovered as a raw river find, this substantial 4-inch catfish dorsal spine spent years absorbing the natural mineral tannins of its aquatic environment, developing a rich, deeply layered amber-brown patina.

To preserve this incredible slice of natural history, the bone was meticulously cleaned and hand-waxed, locking in a smooth, high-luster finish that accentuates its dense cellular ridges and prehistoric micro-serrations. Left in its raw, striking form without a traditional bail, it honors the ancient tradition of utilizing earth's most durable elements for personal adornment.

The Composition

  • The Specimen: A massive, genuine catfish dorsal spine, ethically collected as a natural river find.

  • The Palette: Rich, multi-toned mahogany and tortoiseshell browns gleaming with a hand-waxed luster, paired flawlessly with the weathered warmth of antique brass metalwork.

  • The Anatomy: A commanding, 4-inch defensive dorsal spine showing a beautifully pronounced, flared structural base and a elegant, sweeping taper.

  • The Engineering: The specimen is hand-waxed to a brilliant protective sheen and fitted directly with a heavy-duty 9mm antique brass jump ring acting as a seamless bail.

  • The Profile: Suspended as a striking, elongated vertical drop pendant from a matching antique brass link chain.

Style & Wear

This is the ultimate everyday armor piece. At a bold 4 inches, the spine drops down the chest with undeniable authority, creating a sleek, dramatic focal point. The adjustable 16-to-18-inch antique brass chain allows you to customize where it rests, making it perfect for framing against low-cut necklines or layering directly over thick knit sweaters and rugged denim. Its earthy, warm coloration acts as a gorgeous neutral that brings a touch of wild, prehistoric elegance to any outfit.
