These were such an exciting experiment for me! While I was in the middle of working on the Loom series, I started playing with whitening fish scales. I’m actually hoping to use them for bone-flowers in the future, but they were so beautiful on their own that I had to include them here.
I’ve paired these scales with size 6/0 iridescent purple beads. These are true Czech glass—I remember searching the entire city of Miami looking for better quality beads long before I moved here in 2005. My bead story goes back at least ten years before that, and these beads are a part of that history.
They have a stunning shimmer and are incredibly lightweight for such a bold look.
