Enemies learned how effective it was to set IEDs on the opposite side of the road from a canal. The explosion would flip the armored vehicle upside down, landing in water. Soldiers often drowned from this strategy. This tactic resulted in the installation of personal air canisters for every passenger in a vehicle.
