On the northern outskirts of Mosul, a small christian community shared with us one of their town’s most popular spots. Natural spring water was funneled to run over your feet while seated in the dining area. Grown men play dominoes while children joyfully dive in from the banks. US soldiers rotated shifts between cooling off in the water and manning the machine guns atop the vehicles to maintain security.
