Bone & Blossom: The Annual Resurrection of a Signature Series

The Bone & Blossom series is more than a collection of jewelry and sculpture; it is a timeline of artistic evolution. This week, as we launched the 2026 Collection, I took a moment to look back at where this journey actually began. It wasn't in a jewelry box—it was on a gallery wall.
2019: The Spark of "Garden Squares"
In May of 2019, I entered a juried show at the North Port Art Center called "Garden Squares." My entry was a wood panel piece titled, fittingly, "Bone Blossoms." That piece took Second Place in the 3D Category, and it changed everything.

It was the first time I realized that the rigid, armored remains of the Florida landscape—the pieces left behind by the cycle of life—could be reimagined as a delicate, permanent garden. The response was immediate: people didn't just want to view the garden; they wanted to take a piece of it with them. That was the spark that birthed my signature line of earrings and pendants.
The Summer of Experimentation: Beyond the Earring
By July of 2019, the studio was in full "mad scientist" mode. I began digging through the archives this morning and found the evidence of that early explosion of creativity. The Garfish scale blossom wasn't just staying on the wall; it was becoming a statement ring, a tailored lapel pin, a delicate hair clip, and even a wrist-cuff bracelet.
These early "First Generation" pieces were bold, larger, and carried a more rugged, "pointy" energy. You can see this pioneer era in the collections of those who were there at the start, like the renowned North Port artist Clare Harvey.

2026: The Mastery of Refinement
Fast forward to today. The evolution from those 2019 roots to the 2026 Collection is a study in refinement. Each year, we revisit this timeless design whenever the scales are available—reimagining them with a delicacy reminiscent of your grandma's vintage shell flower earrings.
Contrast those early, bold blossoms with the piece picked up today by collector TK Gray. Today’s blossoms are smaller, whiter, and more intricate. They showcase a level of technical mastery and "Bone Botany" precision that only comes from years of working the material. This journey from bold to bespoke is why we have moved the Garfish Scale Bone Blossom into our regular boutique run—allowing this legacy to continue as a made-to-order staple.
The Sunday Launch: A Garden Already Growing
The response to our 2026 "resurrection" has been nothing short of magical. We opened the collection early for our Site Members, and I am so grateful to share that many of these one-of-a-kind artifacts have already found their forever homes.
While the Pleco flower teacup sculpture and our framed Bone Blossoms have been claimed, the garden is still in bloom. From the architectural geometry of the Softshell Turtle to the "starship" silhouette of an Armadillo caudal bones, there are still several unique pieces waiting for their next chapter.
Note: All sculptures in this series include a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
