Bone Care & Specimen Cleaning FAQs
Images of Therapy
How does Bone Boutique ensure its bones are ethically and sustainably sourced?
Our commitment to "Wearable Conservation" is absolute. We don't just find materials; we intercept legacies. We acquire bones through a network of sustainable, respectful channels: community call-ins, salvaged roadkill, and donations from local farms and hunters who believe in zero-waste.
The Bone Boutique Hard Line: We never pay for bones. This strictly prevents poaching and ensures that every piece of art we create is born from respect, not a transaction. Michele and Phillip personally salvage and process every specimen to ensure it meets our rigorous ethical and aesthetic standards.
Does Bone Boutique accept custom orders or commissions?
Because our work is dictated by the unique, "found" nature of our materials, we do not take custom orders for bone carvings. We let the bone tell us what it wants to be.
However, we prioritize your comfort. If you have metal allergies, we offer alternative findings—from plastic to medical-grade titanium—to ensure your wearable conservation is as comfortable as it is spectacular.
For 2D painting commissions through our Images of Therapy division, we are always open to discussing your vision. Click here to contact us (https://www.boneboutique.biz/contact)
What is Bone Boutique’s role in the community?
We have evolved into a primary educational resource for Southwest Florida. We bridge the gap between science and art through intensive public outreach. Whether we are presenting to the North Port High School Biology Department or leading workshops at the Englewood Art Center, we are dedicated to teaching comparative anatomy and the importance of ethical sourcing. We don't just make art; we lead the conversation on sustainable luxury.

What is Bone Boutique's vision for the future?
Our vision is to prove that "The Future of Luxury is Sustainable." We will continue to expand our educational footprint, dispelling myths about osteology while creating museum-quality work that connects people to the natural world. We strive to keep our Passion Meeting Purpose for decades to come, ensuring that the stories of these animals are never forgotten.
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
Do your research, find your grit, and ensure your passion is deep enough to survive the long haul. Building a business is incredibly rewarding, but it demands an unwavering dedication to your craft.
Pro-tip: You also have to be a tad bit crazy. If people aren't questioning your sanity at least once a week, you probably aren't dreaming big enough. Let your passion meet your purpose, and the journey will be worth every mile. xo
Has Bone Boutique received any awards or recognition?
We are deeply humbled by our community’s support. Bone Boutique is a 12-time "Best of North Port" recipient (including five awards in 2025 alone!). Michele was also named the 2023 Rookie of the Year by the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce.
