The Story
The Prehistoric Cairn. There is a profound elegance in the early stages of life, captured here in a study of raw texture. These earrings feature porous elements from a young goat, donated by a local farm in Venice, Florida. Because a baby’s skeletal structure is still developing, these pieces possess an intricate, coral-like density that is unique to the "early spring" of life.
We have arranged these fragments in a balanced "Cairn" formation, alternating the matte, porcelain-white bone with the rhythmic, spotted patterns of Dalmatian Jasper. It is a redemptive tribute to a brief life, reimagined as a wearable artifact of the Florida landscape.
The Composition
A textured, architectural design that honors the organic complexity of young bone.
The Bone: Hand-cleaned segments of ethically salvaged baby goat bone, selected for their high porosity and sculptural edges.
The Stone: 4mm round Dalmatian Jasper beads paired with a natural Jasper chip "nexus" between the bone elements.
The Metalwork: Secured on silver-plated ball-end headpins with professional .925 silver-plated fishhook findings.
Length: A delicate but impactful 1 7/8-inch drop.
Style & Wear
The "Capra Cairns" are exceptionally lightweight, allowing the intricate textures of the bone to take center stage without the weight of traditional stone jewelry. The contrast of the black-spotted jasper against the bright white bone creates a modern, sophisticated aesthetic. Perfect for the collector who finds beauty in the "Wabi-Sabi" of the natural world—imperfect, organic, and deeply storied.
